First, it has extreme climate and isn’t suitable for people with sensitive bodies. Hell it isn’t suitable for anyone in my opinion. Many remain and disregard what it potentially does to them. In a 24 hour period you’ll witness a 20 degree fluctuation either up or down. The wind is constantly blowing between 10 to 30 mph with gusts as high 40 mph. This is especially true in fall when cold is fighting to take over. I’ve seen higher gusts, but they’re not as frequent and occur maybe once a month sometimes more. Anything under 10 mph is rare especially in fall and winter. Humidity and dew also fluctuate a lot along with pollen and ragweed. This makes allergies, asthma and sinus’s a total nightmare. Also, there is something outside of everything I’ve mentioned, which affects your body year round, especially in winter. If I had to guess, I’d say it is environmental. The symptoms feel an awful lot like flu or what bone cancer patients describe. It makes your teeth and body ache bad.
Second, if you don’t have children or belong to a circle you will be possibly lonely, alienated and stereotyped here. I’ve noticed people who do stuff in this state make it a point to isolate folks in this category. Wisconsin is huge on raising families, so much they seem obsessed (Janesville is the worst). All business except for bars is modeled around this ideology. Some cities you can’t even find a 9 o’clock movie, except on weekends or summer months, when kids are out of school. This place is super boring. It’s exactly like watching their sports, slow and methodical. On Halloween, you can’t even find a haunted house, they’ve closed em all. Nearest one in south central is Rockford, and maybe one in Milwaukee. They have all this odd stuff in Wisconsin for soft people. I’m talking trails, corn mazes and stupid stuff. It isn’t remotely scary for adults unless you’re Elmer Fudd. You’d think Halloween night they’d have a late showing for adults at theaters. NOPE! The guy who owns theaters in counties like Walworth and Rock closes and never takes care of them. There is nothing else in neighboring counties which leaves a person to drive at least an hour or more for something basic.
I also rarely see people in public in their 30’s or 40’s. People here sleep a lot, especially after football season and march madness. Wisconsin is a huge couch potatoe state and enjoys bundling up and staying indoors. Which is fine some nights, but nightly? When I was on west coast or down south I had no trouble meeting people and making new friends. Growing up in Wisconsin and being back here after leaving, in comparison the difference is like night and day. It’s a lot like moving from Los Angeles to North Pole with a few more people, but same amount of activities and a few extra buildings. It is very gloomy and leaves you freaked or depressed. If you’re a consultant or any other profession, which allows flexibility to set hours or work from home you’ll hate it here. People will judge and not believe you let alone understand how that life is possible. They just don’t understand anything beyond their lives and firmly believe anything else is bad. Wisconsin consists mostly of small to middle sized business, and they almost never hire consultants, let alone someone who works like that. They simply don’t have a need for it because of their size, and this is why they can’t understand it. Such a thing is mostly utilized in state of the art facilities for large corporations, which don’t exist in this part of the world (except for a few outdated facilities in Chicago or Detroit). Most business is family owned and a nightmare to work for. It’s like a good ol’ boy network, guilty of nepotism and unfair hiring practices. The State says it’s equal opportunity, but when corporations like General Motors, Kraft, Chrysler and others were still around, applications were given to friends and family only. The railroad here does the same thing.
Schools here grant preferential treatment to friends and family. Growing up in this is state I witnessed it first hand in academics and athletics. Complaints to upper level leadership resolves nothing and makes it worse. If you get on their bad side, which is easy to do, they will most certainly blacklist you. People here also carry heavy chips on their shoulders and never forgive. I figure this is hurting them in many aspects of life, but good luck conveying it. They don’t listen and many give illusion they care, but midway through you realize it’s an act.
Atmosphere in Wisconsin frowns upon a lifestyle with flexibility or great pay. Doctors and lawyers get away with it because they work themselves to death and are needed. This area in a lot of ways harasses and encourages you to except a life of mediocrity, so you will be like your surroundings. Perhaps it’s jealousy or envy, but either way it is very real. Just watch their athletic teams like UW Men’s Basketball. Pay attention to how they slow the game down and bore the viewers. It’s like watching a bunch of snails play canasta. Someone should inform their teachers, education isn’t only about what you know, but how quickly you can answer it. You ask them a question and it takes them forever to compile a response. I don’t think any of them were timed in classes. Mostly they pretend they can’t hear you so you’ll repeat yourself, just so they can slow it down. Interesting how everyone in this state has a hearing problem, but elsewhere like Illinois they hear just fine.
The people here mostly do stuff with families. If they do go out with friends, which is rare, it will be with kids they grew up with (cliques), and probably to a local tavern (which are chock full of rednecks). Unfortunately, environment in Wisconsin is designed to push you out by death or moving. I know that sounds sad, but it is true. And it isn’t like they advertise that or say it, but after you’ve experienced what I have, your overall analysis will be exactly what I just described, unless you’re delusional, or had much better. And again, this was my experience outside of circles. If you’re in their circles it’s much better. I had no other distractions like most, and nothing but time to analyze and write about it. Most my age had kids or family things to stay occupied and I had none of that. I spent years in situations where I was alone on the holidays and no one invited me over for Thanksgiving or anything. Oddly, these same people are volunteering at local soup kitchens and hospice facilities, without even considering for a moment what landed victims there. I think they’re fakes and frauds, because they’re only volunteering for credit on paper, and not doing it for the common good. When I lived elsewhere, people totally had same distractions like kids and their jobs, but it never stopped them from recognizing the obvious. Most people in Wisconsin are the type that don’t seem to give a damn, or think how it can backfire.
Third, driving in this state is a major nightmare. Not only does it possess the worst designed roadways, but it has the worst drivers. I’m talking about people who think safety is all about driving extremely slow. If they aren’t totally dense and dumb, they’re vindictive and dangerous. Many try to enforce their view point by utilizing their automobile as a weapon. They’ll either hog a lane, swerve at you or speed up so you can’t pass. Something else they’re notorious for is leaving an extreme amount of space in front. In cities where intersection traffic lights are not synced (as most are in Wisconsin) this is a major problem, because it causes unsafe scenarios, and bottlenecks. They’re also not fanning out and utilizing all lanes. They’ll bunch up in one lane, because they’re afraid to merge or switch. It is the most hilarious and idiotic display of driving you’ll ever witness. All the police do is enforce speeding, but when an accident occurs because of high speed they pay more attention to other. The state has circles all over trying to slow people down, but fail to recognize dangers associated with them. They think it is safe to have officers patrolling and distracting motorists by parking in middle sections of roadways and causing large distractions. They especially do this during rush hours. In my opinion, it’s all about money masquerading as safety which is sad.
Fourth, medical in this state is appalling. From human medicine to veterinary medicine, it’s extremely messed up. Think of it as one huge machine of profit and potentially worst in the country. All the medical professionals are in cahoots. I honestly believe it’s one large clandestine circle of corruption. All of this is suppose to be monitored by state and federal entities who don’t do squat! Gee I wonder why? Most the board members WORK IN THIS INDUSTRY! In veterinary medicine, you got doctors holding ethical care hostage for the sake of profit and study. It’s nothing short of a lie masquerading as proper care, stamped with the governments seal of approval. You can practically see it when you develop a few year relationship with a vet. The University of Wisconsin Madison Veterinary program has taken billions over the years from biotech and governments to test on live animals. I theorize they also do this on a clinical level, and use all their cronies throughout the state. Take time to research background and educational upbringing of your veterinarian. I’ll bet you nine times out of ten they obtained their education from University of Wisconsin Madison and communicate regularly. I had a difficult time locating a veterinarian throughout the state who didn’t attend this alma mater. And ones who didn’t attended University of Iowa, which works closely with them. For the price of an exploratory surgery on a feline at UW, you can get a kidney transplantation, plus all kinds of follow up at UC Davis (which first started the program on kidneys and are far more experienced). UW will take your money and act like they don’t know what they’re doing. In fact, afterward you’ll get a clear demonstration, and then your pet will die. After that they’ll still act pompous while behaving like total idiots absent of sympathy. How do I know? Because they did it to me and others. Take time to read reviews on Google when you get a chance. You’ll have to dig deep for the real ones, because they’re hidden by what I believe are fake reviews. I think a lot of their reviewers are clinical only or close family and friends. You got people reviewing themselves in all aspects of business in this state, which is unethical.
With human medicine it is all hmo’s, and we all know their reputations. One in particular has someone representing their legal who used to serve as head person at the State of Wisconsin on ethics and affairs. If that isn’t conflict of interest or pure corruption I don’t know what is. This guy has inside knowledge of stuff at the state level, and can literally guide an organization in whatever direction it chooses free of liability. How do I know this? I was troubleshooting something and stumbled across it along with many other details Plus a close friend works for one of them. You’d be amazed just how little and shallow people research things.
Fifth, the state lacks large cities. Two biggest are probably Madison and Milwaukee, and this isn’t saying much. Madison is probably the best and has a better organized government, but both lack size which matters. It matters for kids and young adults. Activities are limited, especially key times of year. Another large problem is contractual help for home services. Outside of Madison and Milwaukee you’re at the mercy of a system of contractors who only help cronies. It’s impossible to get anyone from larger areas to travel outside to you. THEY ALL TALK and believe whatever the hell another jerk contractor tells them, and have a strong tendancy to blacklist and treat outsiders like dirt. Contractual help in this state and northern Illinois is among the worst in the country in my opinion. If they aren’t misrepresenting themselves, they’re ripping customers off badly. A lot of em have their services advertised as business or residential, which is totally misleading. If you’re a resident and not a business, and have an appointment scheduled, it will get bumped if a business comes along and needs them (which happens MOST OF THE TIME). The area needs people who strictly work residential only or run their schedules first come. You have this in larger cities, which Wisconsin is largely deprived of.
Sixth, southern Wisconsin has many issues with cellular service. Undoubtedly the best choice for clear reception in south central is U.S. Cellular. The problem with this choice is reception isn’t clear outside the area. For instance, if you travel to Chicago you begin to witness intermittent connectivity south of Rockford, which continues well within Chicago itself. Phone itself is ok, but data is where most issues occur. It’s exact same dilemma with AT&T in southern Wisconsin. It’s no big secret how expensive smart phones can be as well as the plans required to run them. Imagine requiring two from two different providers, just so you can live in Wisconsin. It’s absurd, and I’ll bet demand has something to do with it, despite what both claim. Oh they have plenty of towers in Wisconsin, but if the problem isn’t your tower quantity rather network overutilization, this can produce problems as well. U.S. Cellular does have agreements with providers in Illinois, but what’s being offered vs. what’s actually existent are not the same. It has been this way for years with both companies, and reporting the problems does nothing to this day.
Lastly, the biggest reason I hate Wisconsin is the people drive me up the wall. All they do is obsess about sports, drinking and family, and are the biggest fakes, liars opportunists you’ll ever know. I’ve witnessed large problems with backstabbing, stereotyping and gang stalking. And it’s near impossible to make friends, because existing circles are tightly closed and extremely over analytical. Even if you’re lucky and they accept you, I guarantee you’ll hate it and be miserable, because they’re nothing but opportunists. When the chips are down and you need em for emotional support, they’re no where to be found, but when they need something you’re suppose to drop what you’re doing. They only use you or lead you on in case something better comes along, and when it does, you won’t hear from them. You have to constantly watch your possessions and your spouse, because moment you turn your back they’re right there messing with it.
Most people here are atheist or agnostic and many are masquerading as the opposite. Religious people who exist are too religious and block out their surroundings or spend all their time trying to convert others. They also believe good medical help is managed care, plus no one laughs or has fun, unless they’re hurting someone physically or mentally.
Again, the above is my experience growing up in Wisconsin, and now being back here for over 10 years. I had more time to test things. Not everyone has the same opinions as me and your experience might be different. I personally don’t believe the area is for everyone and always have a difficult time in this state. I suppose it’s possible that sometimes affects my perception, but I honestly don’t think so.
Later in 2019 I will go into more detail utilizing examples. Most who live in Wisconsin will tell you north is better and they’re right. That matters when combating rough winters and it also matters because of the outdoor activities in north. You also have Minnesota nearby, which can be great in summer.
